Introdução: A Punica granatum L.também é conhecida popularmente no Brasil como romã, um arbusto lenhoso pertencente à família Punicaceae. Objetivo: Evidenciar as propriedades farmacológicas da L. e a sua utilização desenvolvimento de novos fitoterápicos produtos alimentícios. Metodologia: Revisão bibliográfica artigos científicos em base dados Google Acadêmico, Scielo. literatura: Os taninos são polifenois que se complexam com macromoléculas, possuem atividade anti-inflamatória, sequestram os radicais livres, melhora circulação sanguínea, conferindo-lhes ação antioxidante. flavonoides anti-inflamatória pois inibem COX2, principal via inflamação. Considerações Finais: Romã possui farmacológicas, antioxidante, antifúngica, antineoplásica. Dentre medicamento romã pode ser desenvolvida cápsulas sachês sais efervescentes, pomadas anestésicos locais, bem sprays.
